International Competitive Festival Of Short Fiction Films

The festival B16 is one of the most well-known festivals of amateur non-commercial live-action fiction films organized in Brno, Czech Republic, in October every year for 46 years now. The festival is organized by the Brno Cultural Centre together with the B16 and Alternative Film Society. The organization is a non-profit civic association, which organizes the festival in order to give young amateurs, film school students and independent professionals a chance to show their work in public.

The festival is aimed at those live-action film productions, which have not been produced commercially or for commercial use. Animated, documentary, advertising, or promotional shorts are not accepted for competition. All the accepted films cannot be older than three years.

Part of the programme is devoted to seminars, exhibitions, study screenings of interesting films that may be outside the short fiction film genre, and screenings of film school collections. The association also organizes discussions with filmmakers in order to give audience a chance to ask about their works.
